Dr. Robert “Bob” Bucknam has been a trusted voice for parents for more than 30 years. A board-certified pediatrician and founder of Cornerstone Pediatric Associates in Louisville, Colorado, he has cared for over 20,000 children and has been recognized as one of America’s Top Pediatricians and listed among the Best Doctors in America.
Widely recognized as one of the nation’s leading infant sleep experts, Dr. Bucknam was also a pioneer in introducing parent-directed feeding, a balanced approach that blends a baby’s natural cues with common-sense parental structure. His emphasis on healthy sleep, nutrition, and exercise reflects his belief that strong foundations set children up for lifelong health and resilience.
Much of Dr. Bucknam’s philosophy is shaped by his Biblical convictions. He believes parents can intentionally raise children who are respectful, responsible, and a blessing to others by training both behavior and the heart.
In 2025, he founded Smart Starts for Parents to equip families with practical tools for raising children of character in today’s culture.
When he’s not in practice or teaching, Bob enjoys life with Gayle, his wife of more than 40 years. Together they have four married sons and twelve grandchildren. He loves family time, fly-fishing, skiing, and hiking in the Colorado wilderness.

Gayle Bucknam grew up in Boulder, Colorado, where she met Bob in high school. She earned a B.A. in Child Development and Early Education from California State University and later a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Denver Seminary. Today, she is a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 13 years of experience in marriage and family counseling.
She is also the founder of Welcome Home, a ministry designed to help mothers embrace the significance of their role in the home. Gayle encourages women to create spaces of love and influence that bless not only their families but also their friends and communities.
A devoted grandmother, Gayle delights in spending time in the kitchen with her grandchildren, creating meals and memories that bring joy to the entire family. She and Bob split their time between Boulder and Ouray, Colorado, where they enjoy mountain living, family gatherings, and the beauty of God’s creation.
Together, Bob and Gayle are passionate about strengthening families—equipping parents, supporting marriages, and encouraging mothers and fathers to raise the next generation with love, wisdom, and purpose.
